Ending Global Slavery: Everyday Heroes Leading the Way, deadline is June 18, 2008.  You can also vote for the following competitions which have closed:  The Geotourism Challenge: Celebrating Places - Changing Lives,  and Tapping Local Innovation: Unclogging the Water and Sanitation Crisis.

The Grand Challenges in Global Health awards grants for innovative projects in global health.  First round applications are due May 30, 2008, but pre-registration is required by May 15, 2008.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awards grants to organizations (not individuals).

The NIH Fogarty International Center has an extensive database of global health fellowships.

The Fulbright Scholar Program supports scholars and professionals to conduct work in other countries.  U.S. scholars can work abroad and non-U.S. scholars can work in the U.S.  Pre-doctoral fellowships are also available.

Nominate a social entrepreneur who has made an important impact to become an Ashoka Fellow.

Congressional Hunger Center's International Fellows Program sends U.S. fellows abroad to various countries to find solutions to ending hunger and poverty worldwide.  Check back in the summer of 2008 for application instructions.

The Albert Schweitzer Labarane Fellowship provides complete funding for U.S. medical students, public health students, and public health graduates to work at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Labarane, Gabon for 4 months.  Application next available in Fall 2008.  Email

Echoing Green awards 20 two-year fellowships to entrepreneurs creating new social change organizations. Fellows receive up to $90,000 in seed funding and technical support to turn their innovative ideas into sustainable organizations.  All nationalities eligible.  Next application available in Fall 2008.
