Program Coordinator Needed for HIGH Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Global Infectious Disease
We are currently looking for a Program Coordinator for the Harvard Initiative for Global Health (HIGH) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships in Global Infectious Disease; the position would preferably to be filled by a PhD, MD or MD-PhD student. This is a paid part-time summer position. The HIGH Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program in Global Infectious Disease works with undergraduate students engaged in scholarly research partnered with a faculty mentor at a participating laboratory or research site. The Program intends to foster a strong and diverse community of scholars and increase undergraduate research opportunities in the area of global infectious diseases by providing students with an opportunity to work closely with Harvard faculty mentors, participate in weekly Journal Club meetings, Global Health Seminars, and engage in meaningful scientific discussions with leading global health researchers at Harvard.
The Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating the administrative and programming functions associated with the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program (approximately 30 students) as well as coordinating a weekly global health seminar series and leading the associated journal club for undergraduate Fellows. In addition, the Program Coordinator is responsible for actively mentoring students in the program and serving as a liaison between student participants and faculty/researcher mentors. This is a part-time position predominantly over the summer months with some limited logistical coordination work required during mid to late spring.
